First Contact!

What a fantastic week so far. I’ve had some great replies from companies who are ready to subscribe the moment things go live. It’s been one of the most validating feelings I’ve ever had.

What’s also been amazing is that some of the companies I’ve contacted have actually given me the time of day — not just brushed me off for being a startup. In hindsight, sure, my first few emails could’ve looked a little more polished (hindsight is 20/20, right?), but it genuinely meant so much to have people from large organisations take the time to respond.

I won’t lie — it’s nerve-wracking. This is the first time I’ve ever done anything quite like this. But it’s also exhilarating.

Still Sourcing

I’m still exploring a few options for pellet supply and extrusion lines. It’s definitely a challenge trying to get started without a big financial backing, especially since most setups are designed for high throughput. Mine will be smaller-scale and a bit more manual — but there’s nothing wrong with that! It’s all about proving the process works first.

Website & Progress

The website is coming along really well. It’s another self-built project — I’m learning as I go, but loving it. I think it’s quite handy (and a little satisfying) to have made it this far on my own. (Well, with a little help from Claude AI along the way!)

Material Research

A few kind people have reached out and donated filament waste for testing — thank you so much! It’s been really helpful. The recycled ratios of common plastics like PLA are well-documented in scientific literature, so I’m not reinventing the wheel. But I do want to confirm that I can make these ratios work in practice. It’s one thing to read about it — it’s another to produce usable, high-quality filament yourself.
